Saturday proved to be a historic day as the South Bay Stingrays battled the LA Rebellion in their second home fixture of the season. Casey Gomez set the tone with an early try in the 2nd minute of play. The game was hard fought and saw a back and forth exchange for most of the match. The Stingrays broke away in the last 20 minutes of play by scoring 21 unanswered points and giving them the win. Final Score: 59 - 28 South Bay Stingrays Win.
Jose Silahua was named man of the match for his aggressive tackling and determined running that saw him breaking through the defensive line. The Stingrays forwards had a dominating performance and ended up winning most of the scrums in the match. The backs found success out wide with Afa Mickelsen and Lamar Dent on the wings and the recent addition of fly-half Patrick Niupulusu added depth to the backs with his ability to get the ball out wide or pick his runs.
With new reinforcements joining the club and veteran players leading the charge, the South Bay Stingrays are re-energized and seek to prove that they are a serious force in the division.
