The second to last game of the season and we headed down to Sunnybank to face an inform Dragons colts side. The build- up during the week was disruptive due to illness, injury and players works commitments, but I take my hat off to those that stuck it out and turned up regardless. Special mention has to go to Mick Coughlan and Mark Johnstone, Noosa Dolphins Colts coaches. On Tuesday the Stingrays Premier team were hosted by Noosa and I offered my services to the Colts coaches to take their team for a session. The Noosa players responded well and the coaches put the players forward to don the Stingrays colors for the weekend. On Thursday night the Dolphins coaches and players made the journey down the Sunshine Motorway to Stockland Park and joined in our weekly team run. The team run worked well as the Noosa Colts players were able to slot in and find their feet quickly. The Stingrays Colts carried some of the momentum into the weekend as four Noosa players earned starting positions and played the entire game with plenty of passion. Up against a quality side the game was very much a one-sided game, full credit goes to the Stingrays for not giving in and playing for the full 80 minutes. With Alex Eagles sidelined with an Injury, and Alex Mitchell off to WA to work in the mines, in came James Zhao and Keith Strejnar to help our tireless captain, Alec Berry who had just finished a week at the snow. James Zhao is a young, tough player straight out of the breeding grounds at Sunshine Coast Grammar, and is showing maturity beyond his years by standing up and slotting straight into the the number 6 jersey for the second week in a row. The game was a roller coaster ride, but Sunnybank showed why they will be a force to reckon with come play off time. The game also allowed our forwards to get ascendancy at line out time with Josh Burkin directing the show and fill in thrower, James Turvey hitting the mark every time. Great work from those two players. Again, a special mention and thank you to the following players:
All Who played extremely well and Hayden awarded with a brilliant solo try. With the final game of the Premier Colts season approaching, the team will be looking to finish the season on a high note with a last ditch effort to beat the Mighty Magpies at Home.
